Graffiti Art Workbook

Graffiti Art

Fun lesson on how to create graffiti art

Lets just keep it on paper, kids!

Famous graffiti artists to google:
Banksy, Keith Haring, Jean Michel Basquiat (my personal favorite), Shepard Fairey, Eduardo Kobra, Blek le Rat, Os Gemos, Lady Pink
Fun With Matisse
In Matisse’s later life, he began making art with paper. He cut pieces of paper into organic shapes and arranged them to make many abstract pieces. This is very easy to do and requires little supplies.
All you need is: scissors, glue and paper.
Children will cut paper into geometric or organic shapes and glue onto paper to make an image or an abstract piece. They could use strictly warm or cool colors to make it more challenging.
A great companion piece to this project is the book, Henri’s Scissors, by Jeanette Winter. This can be found on Amazon.

Outdoor Scavenger Hunt

Outdoor Scavenger Hunt

This is the perfect outside activity- take this paper, a clipboard and a pencil and go outside for a nature walk and draw what you see!
There are 18 squares, asking for specific objects.
At home, the drawings can be colored with color pencils- as they look in reality or use your imagination to change it up.

Roll An Emoji Drawing Game

Roll An Emoji Drawing Game

I have provided a fun and easy drawing game children can do on their own, with family or on Face Time with a friend.

Everything is included- except dice, drawing paper (copy paper is fine) and drawing materials.

I suggest making copies of the drawing sheets so they can play multiple times.

Students in grades 3 and up have played this type of game before (Georgie O'Keeffe blankets) and are very familiar with the process.

This is also used as an art therapy tool and could be helpful with any uncertain feelings regarding COVID 19, the quarantine and missing family and friends.

Enjoy!
How to draw a Hot Air Balloon

Let's fly away to somewhere without Coronavirus!

Suggestions-
Printer paper will work fine for this activity
Child should draw in pencil and then go over their drawing with a sharpie
Erase any extra pencil marks
Color in image with crayons or color pencil
Reassure child their creation doesn't have to look like the original

Welcome to Art!

This year in art, your child will be doing all sorts of amazing things!  We'll learn about the Elements and Principals of Art while using a variety of mediums.  Students will also learn about artists from around the world; as well art history periods, movements and styles.  Students will get messy and have fun while creating individual projects based on these areas.  Look for these to come home throughout the school year.

I believe that for students to be successful at school, we need to work as a team.  Please feel free   to contact me at any time with concerns or questions about your child's art education.  My hope is that your child will have the absolute best art class experience possible, gain new skills and have fun!
