Responsive Classroom

At Queen of All Saints we have implemented Responsive Classroom because we believe that how we teach is as important as what we teach. Independent research has found that the Responsive Classroom approach is associated with higher academic achievement in math and reading, improved school climate, and higher-quality instruction. The Responsive Classroom approach is comprised of a set of well-designed practices intended to create safe, joyful, and engaging classroom and school communities. The emphasis is on helping students develop their academic, social, and emotional skills while building community and developing positive relationships.

One way these goals are accomplished is through Morning Meeting.  This meeting is a time to explore and practice social skills and to merge social, emotional, and academic learning. It also nurtures empathy by offering students an opportunity to learn about one another and practice taking care of others.  Morning Meeting consists of greeting one another, sharing news or some information about themselves, a group activity and then a morning message.
