Second Grade- Room 8

Welcome to Second Grade at Queen of All Saints.  I am so happy to be at QAS. Second grade is a time for new experiences.  Two of the most important experiences will be receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the Sacrament of the Eucharist.  Along with Religion, our day will be jam-packed with Fountas and Pinnell ReadAloud and guided reading, Wilson Fundations phonics, Lucy Calkins writing, grammar, science, social studies, and math.   I want to help your child grow emotionally, socially, academically and strengthen their Catholic Faith. Needless to say, we will be very busy in second grade.

Who Am I?
My name is Mrs. Bartuce and I have been teaching first and second grades for 15 years. I grew up in Jefferson Park and now live in Edgebrook.  I earned my Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Illinois University.  I earned my Master of Education degree from North Park University.  I earned my English as a Second Language and my Learning Behavior Specialist 1 as well.  I have been a parishioner at St. Elizabeth (St. Tars) for over 30 years.  My three children have graduated from St. Tars.  My children attended Loyola Academy and have all graduated from college.  Yay- No more school tuition!   I have a six year old Weimaraner.  He is trained as a therapy dog.  His therapy work includes visiting patients in a hospital setting, visiting with children at the Children's Museum or library, and helping people cope with traumatic experiences.  He loves to go to work.  I am so happy to be in the QAS community.  I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child.  I want your child to have a wonderful experience in second grade, and I will do everything I can to make it a great year.

All students will need headphones or earphones for IReady next week.  Please check with your student to see if they have headphones.  If you purchased the Supply box, the school supply company did not send headphones.
Thank you.
