Our religion series, which is designed to helps students understand and live within our Catholic faith To prepare for our weekly tests, review chapter packets and do Practice Tests at http://www.webelieveweb.com  We receive TWO Sacraments this year - Reconciliation and First Communion We encourage parents and students to attend weekly Mass
 
Writing Daily Journals:
Daily dated writing and illustrations We use this to.. Encourage complete sentences, build vocabulary, enhance their skills, and help students become comfortable as writers All 4 Learning Domains are engaged! (Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking)
Voyages in English: Structured grammar lessons Nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs Phonics Modern Curriculum Press: A structured approach to phonics Kids are formally introduced to.. consonants, short vowels, long vowels, diphthongs, antonyms, synonyms, and homophones
 
Reading Reading Street by Scott Foresman: Reading units, vocabulary building, and weekly spelling words. Students who do well on spelling word pretests will also be given Challenge Words! (All are encouraged to try.) We work to.. expose students to multicultural genres read on their level practice expression and fluency engage in reading strategies use proper punctuation and grammar Reading
- At Home To help your child love reading, please encourage practice Both silently and orally! Homework: Monday: New vocabulary and spelling words assigned (To practice: Look at the word, say the word, listen to the sounds, write the word, and check the spelling) Thursday: Spelling sentences and corrections (3x each) are due. Reading Street books will come home on Thursday. Have your child read, review, and discuss the unit story to prepare for the test. Friday: Be prepared for weekly spelling and reading tests! Return Reading Street books to school in the morning.

Homework To help your child do their very best this year, we ask parents to.. Encourage nightly reading Make sure children complete weekly spelling homework Practice new vocabulary flashcards daily (usually sent home on Tuesdays) Go through the child’s folder every night and make corrections to work if necessary (do not return corrections unless otherwise specified) Sign and return any tests to school Help students practice math flashcards (both addition and subtraction facts) Check individual teachers’ blog pages for helpful websites and other classroom resources.
