PreK- 5th Grade Spanish

¡Hola! My name is María Acevedo-Villeda, and I’m excited to begin my twelfth year at Queens. Originally from Guatemala City, I feel incredibly fortunate to teach your child my native language, Spanish. My passion lies in not only in helping students acquire the Spanish language but also in immersing them in the rich cultures that Spanish-speaking communities offer.

I use the “I Can” Spanish Curriculum, which is thoughtfully designed with guidance from the NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do Statements. Even though I am teaching remotely from my home country, I am thrilled about this opportunity to engage students with a variety of activities, content, and cultural events. My aim is to ensure that every student succeeds in understanding and communicating in Spanish.

Thank you for the opportunity to be part of your child's language journey. Together, we will explore the vibrant world of Spanish and its many cultures!
