🌞 SOL SPANISH ONLINE LEARNING – 2nd Trimester

I’m so proud and excited to share everything your children have continued learning in Spanish this trimester!
In these past months, I’ve seen so much growth—not only in vocabulary, but in confidence, participation, and joy when using Spanish.

PreK 3, PreK 4 & Kindergarten – Beginner Level

My youngest learners continue to amaze me! They are becoming more confident in recognizing words and participating in Spanish with excitement.

This trimester, we focused on:
👮‍♂️ Community helpers (Los servidores públicos): policía, doctor, bombero, maestro, chef, granjero…
✈️ Las vacaciones (places to go): la playa, la montaña, la casa, el parque
🚗 Transportation: carro, avión, bicicleta, autobús
🎭 Identifying what helpers do and connecting vocabulary to real-life situations
🎵 Continued practice with songs, movement, and repetition
🗣️ Using familiar vocabulary in new contexts

Skills developed:
✨ Recognizing and naming vocabulary from different themes
✨ Listening and connecting meaning with visuals
✨ Participating more independently
✨ Speaking short words and phrases with confidence
✨ Making real-life connections (where we go and how we get there)

 1st & 2nd Grade – Early Explorers

These students are growing so much in their ability to understand and respond in Spanish! They are starting to connect vocabulary and use it more naturally.

This trimester, we focused on:
👷‍♀️ Community helpers and professions (los servidores públicos)
🧠 Understanding what each profession does
🗣️ Answering simple questions (¿Quién es?, ¿Qué hace?)
🎮 Interactive games to reinforce vocabulary and comprehension

Skills developed:
✨ Speaking in short phrases (Es un doctor. / Es una maestra.)
✨ Listening and identifying meaning more quickly
✨ Participating actively in class conversations
✨ Building confidence when responding in Spanish

3rd & 4th Grade – Growing Communicators

I am so proud of how much more confident and expressive these students have become! They are using Spanish with more intention and understanding.

This trimester, we focused on:
👩‍🚒 Community helpers and describing what they do
🗣️ Speaking in complete sentences
📚 Asking and answering questions with more detail
🎯 Reinforcing previous vocabulary through new themes

Skills developed:
✨ Speaking in full sentences with more accuracy
✨ Improved listening comprehension
✨ Making connections between vocabulary and real life
✨ Participating confidently and independently

5th Grade – Spanish Scholars

My 5th graders continue to grow in both confidence and understanding. This trimester, they worked on applying Spanish in more structured and meaningful ways, combining vocabulary, grammar, and conversation.

This trimester, we focused on:
📚 Vocabulary: Los pasatiempos y actividades (hobbies and activities)
🗣️ Expressing likes and preferences using “me gusta / me gustan”
❓ Asking and answering questions using preguntas básicas
👤 Reviewing and applying subject pronouns
🔄 Learning and practicing the verb IR (to go) and using it in sentences
💬 Class conversations to practice real communication
📝 Preparing for and completing an assessment on sports and activities

Skills developed:
✨ Expressing opinions and preferences clearly (Me gusta jugar fútbol, etc.)
✨ Asking and answering questions with confidence
✨ Using verbs correctly in context (especially ir)
✨ Participating in conversations using complete sentences
✨ Strengthening grammar while communicating meaning

🌞 SOL SPANISH ONLINE LEARNING- 1st Trimester

I’m so happy to share everything your children have been learning in Spanish this trimester!
At SOL, my goal is to help every student feel confident and joyful as they learn a new language.
Through songs, games, visuals, and lots of speaking practice, students are not only learning vocabulary — they are using it to communicate, respond, and express themselves in Spanish.

🧸 PreK 3, PreK 4 & Kindergarten – Beginner Level

My youngest learners are off to a wonderful start! They are learning to listen, repeat, and speak their very first Spanish words through fun and interactive lessons.

This trimester, we learned about:
🎵 Greetings and introductions: ¡Hola!, ¡Adiós!, ¡Buenos días!, ¿Cómo estás?
🎨 Colors and numbers 1–10
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family members (mamá, papá, hermano, hermana, abuela…)
🧠 Body parts (ojos, nariz, boca, manos, pies) through songs and games
📚 Simple classroom directions: siéntate, levántate, escucha, repite, manos arriba, manos abajo, abro, cierro, etc...
🍂 Thanksgiving theme — learning “Gracias”

Skills developed:
✨ Listening and recognizing key words
✨ Following directions in Spanish
✨ Singing, moving, and speaking short phrases
✨ Building confidence through repetition and participation

🐻 1st & 2nd Grade – Early Explorers

These students are developing a stronger foundation and starting to express themselves with short sentences. I encourage them to participate, repeat after me, and use Spanish naturally in class.

This trimester, we learned about:
🌈 Greetings and basic classroom phrases
🎵 Colors, numbers, and animals (perro, gato, pez, vaca, caballo…)
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family members vocabulary
😊 Feelings and emotions (feliz, triste, cansado, contento)
🎮 Understanding simple questions and responding with gestures or short answers
🍁 Thanksgiving vocabulary (pavo, familia, comida, gracias) and a gratitude activity called “Mi libro de gracias.”

Skills developed:
✨ Speaking with short sentences (Yo tengo un perro. / Mi familia es grande.)
✨ Listening and responding through songs and games
✨ Using visuals to connect meaning
✨ Building confidence and joy while speaking in Spanish

🦋 3rd & 4th Grade – Growing Communicators

I’m so proud of how expressive and curious my 3rd and 4th-graders have become! They are learning to describe, compare, and identify people and objects in Spanish using complete ideas.

This trimester, we learned about:
🎨 Review of greetings, colors, family, and animals, numbers
📚 Classroom vocabulary (la mesa, la silla, el libro, el lápiz). Classroom phrases and how to ask to go to the bathroom, drink water, mute and unmute, ask questions, etc. 
✍️ Writing about family members and expressing likes and dislikes
🔊 Practicing pronunciation and intonation
🧡 Thanksgiving gratitude- Counting our blessings

Skills developed:
✨ Expanding vocabulary and sentence structure
✨ Listening comprehension
✨ Speaking in full ideas
✨ Participating in class through games, slides, and visuals

🌟 5th Grade – Spanish Scholars

My 5th graders are making excellent progress and starting to understand the “why” behind the language. They are learning to write correctly, recognize patterns, and apply grammar rules while continuing to speak and listen in Spanish.

This trimester, we focused on:
📚 Reviewing and expanding classroom vocabulary and phrases
✔️Counting from 1 to 1,000
🧏🏻‍♀️ Talking about myself (likes, dislikes)
🧩 Learning Nouns (sustantivos) and how they change in gender and number
🔠 Introducing Definite and Indefinite Articles (el, la, los, las, un, una, unos, unas)
🧏🏻‍♀️Identifying Subject Pronouns
💻 Creating Google Slides projects to show understanding
✍️ Writing and presenting short sentences with accuracy

Skills developed:
✨ Applying grammar to real examples
✨ Speaking with better accuracy
✨ Writing complete, simple sentences
✨ Building independence and pride in progress
✨ Using digital tools like Kami, Padlet, and Nearpod effectively to enhance their Spanish learning experience.

🌞 Bienvenidos a SOL Spanish Online Learning 🌞

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the SOL Spanish Online Learning Program for Kids! I am excited to begin a new school year full of fun, growth, and learning in Spanish.

📚 Class Schedule

  • PreK – 4th Grade: Students will have Spanish class once a week for 25 minutes.

  • 5th Grade: Students will meet three times a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) for 45 minutes each class.

🎯 Program Goals

SOL program is designed with age-appropriate learning in mind:

  • PreK – 4th Grade: Students focus on building basic vocabulary through songs, games, and interactive activities.

  • 5th Grade: Students go beyond vocabulary and begin learning Spanish grammar to prepare for middle school.

By the time students enter 6th grade, the goal is for them to participate in basic conversations in Spanish with confidence.

💡 How Parents Can Support at Home

You play a key role in encouraging Spanish learning! Here are a few simple and fun ways:

  • Listen to Spanish music together (cumbia, salsa, pop, and children’s songs).

  • Watch cartoons or shows in Spanish to build listening skills.

  • Encourage your child to share Spanish words and phrases they are learning.
