3 and 4 Year Old Pre-Kindergarten Benedict Center (B103-104)

"Play is a child's work."  In our three and four year old pre-kindergarten room, the children learn through play.  Our days are built around the activities that the children choose and we are modeling, facilitating and teaching in each of those moments.

My teaching vocation in the Archdiocese began in 1998 at the Cardinal Bernardin Early Childhood Center.  Our school thrived for the 11 years I was there and it was open.  The doors of the St. Teresa Campus closed in 2009.  For the next 10 years I was the Pre-School for All Teacher at Our Lady of Charity.  Coming to Queen of All Saints in 2019 has been a blessing.  Developing the faith formation and skills of the youngest children at QAS became full-time for me in 2020 as my first year at Queens I had the joy of being with the K-8 students in the Library during the afternoon hours.

This school year, 2023-2024, Miss Maria Palazzo will be our morning aide.

You may reach me with questions and/or concerns at the email address below.

We will pray for you daily and we ask that you keep us in prayer, too.

May your day be blessed!

April 2024

Welcome to April.  It will be full of joy as we celebrate Jesus' Resurrection and 50 days of Easter.  It will be full of excitement with the anticipation of your child's book being published.  It will be full of fun as we learn about God's little critters.  It will be full of accomplishments as we finish up the 26 letters of the alphabet and continue on the journey of learning letters make words!
Join your child in asking, "What did Miss Talbot read today?" or "What insect do you like best?" or "Can you name a word that begins with J or U or S?" (the letters we will work on this month) or pick out a random letter ... we've charted all of them :)
And, by all means, have fun with your child outside as Spring has sprung!
Peace, Miss Talbot

George Washington was born in Virginia on February 11, 1731, according to the then-used Julian calendar. In 1752, however, Britain and all its colonies adopted the Gregorian calendar which moved Washington's birthday a year and 11 days to February 22, 1732.

Thanksgiving

President Abraham Lincoln instituted the Thankgiving holiday in 1863 during the Civil War. However, he did not have the harvest in mind. He wanted Americans to celebrate the holiday as a sign of unity and thanksgiving to God.

I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens”

(President Abraham Lincoln, Proclamation, October 3, 1863).

November, 2023

November is upon us.  Take a peek into what we will be doing in the weeks to come.

This Thanksgiving, may you feast on God's love and continue to share in His blessings.  Miss Talbot

Praying for family during November

All Soul's Day is November 2.  We would like to pray for your deceased family members throughout the month.  If you'd like us to include them in our daily prayers, please send names and relationship to your child to me in your child's communication envelope.
Veteran's Day is November 11.  Also, throughout November we will pray for our Veterans.  If you'd like us to include your family members, again, send names, relationship to your child, branch of military service.
Peace be with you - Miss Talbot

Cooking with your children

Have some fun as a family in the kitchen.  You will create something to munch on but even better you will be making a memory to last forever!
Enjoy a cooking experience once a week with your children.

Math: It is more than counting!

There are many ideas here, similar to what I've posted already in the "QAS e-learning Activities" on the right.  However, it's a nice article to read as a reminder that you do not need paper and pencil (a worksheet) for preschoolers to be engaged in math skills.  Classifying and patterning with socks and silverware, any everyday item you have at home, will make a concrete impression for your children.  Matching socks has never been so much fun!

Playdough Power

Just when you thought your children were just playing with playdough.  Read through this article and you'll find out there is so much more happening when a child engages with playdough.
You can have fun, too!
