This week we will be practicing writing a new type of a paragraph- an opinion writing type.

One easy way to think about paragraphs is that they have a structure similar to an Oreo cookie. The first sentence of the body paragraph is the topic sentence that sets up the major point the paragraph will make. The topic sentence is the main idea that the rest of the paragraph will discuss in detail.

The oreo cookies will help us to understand the structure of the opinion paragraph.
