Good morning class! For today’s morning meeting, go to Superhero Me, on Seesaw and draw and tell me how you can be a superhero friend or superhero student.

 

Religion:  Since we are learning about Mary, let’s begin our day by saying the Hail Mary. Read, discuss and complete p. 288-289.  Highlight the important points.

Reading:  We will continue Benchmark Testing.  Make sure that you read the stories at least twice.  You may ask your mom or dad to help you with a word that you might not know in the story, but you need to answer the questions on your own.  For the writing part of the test, make sure that you answer in complete sentences and use capital letters and end marks.  Your answers should be at least five sentences long.  You will find the pages on Seesaw.

 

Silent Reading:  Read a book of your choice for 20 minutes.  In your journal record the book title, author and a brief summary.  Illustrate your favorite part.

 

Handwriting:  Keep practicing.  Go at your own pace for 15 minutes a day.

 

Math:  Make Bar Graphs.  Watch the video on Seesaw.  You may know the guest instructor.  Then do p. 549-554.  Upload p. 551-552 to Seesaw.

 

Science:  Read over Unit 5.  Study the parts that are highlighted or underlined.  We will be asking science review questions on Seesaw on Thursday.  Then you will have your science test on Monday.

 

Social Studies: Read and complete the pages about Thomas Edison. Then go on Epic and read:  National Geographic Readers:  Thomas Edison.  Afterwards, go back to Seesaw and make a poster showing the reasons that Thomas Edison is one of our great Americans.  This will be hung in our virtual hallway (otherwise known as the blog).

Good morning class! For today's morning meeting, go to "Tell Me Tuesday," on Seesaw, greet your classmates and me and then tell us what is the one thing that you would never sell and why it is so special you.
 
Religion:  Read and discuss pages 286-287.  Highlight the important points and complete the activity on page 287.

Today we will read all about Norman.  Norman makes an awful mistake and causes everybody to get upset.  Have you ever caused someone to be upset? Now as you read the story, find out what kinds of problems the signmaker's assistant causes.  Turn to page 268.  Go to Seesaw.  There you will find a mystery reader who is going to read The Signmaker's Assistant  as you follow along.  Complete the house reading template attached to the bottom of the blog. You can color and decorate your house.

Look at the pictures on page 278.  Why do you think the author included the pictures?  What did Norman learn by the end of the story?  Show me or tell me on Seesaw. If you chose to write out the answers , remember to write neatly and use capital letters and end marks.

Good morning class!  It is almost Easter, and this week should be spent eagerly preparing for Jesus.  We need to remember what he has done for us, and celebrate his Resurrection.  Our last day of  e-learning will be on Wednesday, April 8th.  Spring break begins on Holy Thursday. We will return to e-learning on Monday, April 20th.
 
Morning Meeting:  Get on Seesaw and introduce your classmates and teacher to your favorite stuffed animal.

Good morning class! Today we begin the month of April.  It is a month of showers, flowers, a lot of learning and many fun activities.
 
Morning Meeting:  Go to Seesaw to say good morning to your teacher and classmates.  Then tell us what dessert you would want to create.  You may want to draw a picture of it too.
 
Religion:  Begin your day with a daily prayer.  Read and discuss pages 276-277.  Highlight or underline the important points.
 
Reading:  Reread "Horace and Morris but Mostly Dolores."  Pick your favorite part and read it aloud to someone in your family.  As you are reading think about what the author's purpose was in writing the story. (Hint: Why did he give the characters rhyming names?)
 
Writing assignment:  Write a paragraph that tells what it means to be a good friend.  This paragraph should be three to five sentences long.  Remember to write neatly and to use capital letters and end marks.  Then illustrate your paragraph.  When you are done, take a picture of it and upload it to Seesaw.  We will put these up in our virtual hallway (blog).

Science:  Remember, protect  means "to keep safe."  In today's lesson, you will be asked to figure out different ways plants protect  themselves, or stay safe. Please read, discuss, and complete pages 198-199.
Summarize Ideas: Write a paragraph that tells why and how plants protect themselves from animals.  This should be three  to five sentences.  Write neatly, and check it for capital letters and end marks.  When you are done, submit it to Seesaw.  Please take a picture of your writing and read it out loud when you share.

RELIGION:  Begin your day with the Lord's Prayer and a personal prayer.  Today you are going to use pages from this week to complete the Religion Test on page 258.  Write the word TEST at the top of the page this will be use as an actual test grade. Religion Art Project: Project pages have been attached as PDF/Word files at the bottom of the page.  Have fun, be creative and practice your fine motor skills .  Please take your time and do your best work!  Keep your creation as a decoration at home.

PHONICS:  Suffix Sort Game-Game pieces will be emailed Friday.  You will also need a Ziploc bag, scissors, and something to color with.  Print the game pieces and prepare your game! Neatly cut and color all word tiles, then play a round of Suffix Sort at home.
 
READING:  Reread or have someone read to you "One Dark Night" and "Adoption" and "The Stray Cat." Students will have a pretest on these words on Tuesday 9/3.  Every word that they misspell on the pretest, they need to write three times.  Then they use each spelling word (all 12) in a sentence.
The sentences and words should be turned in every Thursday.  Spelling tests are usually given every Friday.
 
Reading
 
Students are asked to read 20 minutes daily.  Some of the time should be spent reading out loud.  On Tuesday,  students will be bringing home vocabulary words.  They should be practice daily. On Wednesday your child will be bringing home a Leveled Reader to read with you.  On Thursday, our text, Reading Street, will be coming home.  Students should practice reading and discussing their weekly assigned story.  There will be a vocabulary and comprehension test on Friday.
 
Religion
 
On Thursday, Chapter 1 of our religion book will be sent home.  Students should study highlighted religious vocabulary words.  The religion test will be on Friday.
