Earth Day Group Research and Teach AssignmentDue Thursday, April 22
1. Choose an important Earth Day topic to research and teach to the class.  You may choose from the list below or think of your own topic. If you choose a different topic, please get it approved by Mrs. Zeman before you begin.
2. Your job will be to teach the class about the topic you chose.  Your “lesson” should include the following:An introduction to the topic telling us everything about it.  Why is it important? What is happening in the world today, etc.
3. Teach the class: you may make a visual to help explain the information to the class.  You may make a poster or a slideshow or find a video to show. Be sure to tell the class what WE can do to help the situation!.
4. An assignment or activity for the class to do. Examples are a worksheet or a game or a small art project or coloring page.
5. Hand in your LESSON PLAN.  This will tell me exactly what you are going to do when you teach your lesson and what you will use.  Your lesson should be about 10-15 minutes long, including the activity.  
6. You will be assigned a time to present your lesson on Thursday or Friday.

Hi 5th Graders! This is the information you need to work on your Google Slideshow for your science fair project. Please share your slideshow with me so that I can help answer questions you may have along the way. The demonstration may be done anytime you like, don't forget to take a video! It is due January 22.

Since we will not be meeting in Zoom on Thursday this week, I have added two assignments together, which will both be due on Friday. You may work on these at your own pace.

Endangered Animal Poster

Name the animal and tell a little about it. Where does it live? What does it eat?
Why are they endangered? What are the major threats to this animal?
What is being done to help them?

I have attached an example, but your poster will be done on PAPER, not on Google Docs. You may print pictures for your poster.

Since we will not be meeting in Zoom on Thursday this week, I have added two assignments together, which will both be due on Friday. You may work on these at your own pace.

Today, please go outside in your backyard or in your neighborhood or go for a walk somewhere outside. When you return, answer the questions on the google doc and submit.

Read pages 252-255 in your science book. Complete Sum it Up and Brain Check on pages 256-258. We will correct these together on Thursday.

Choose any ecosystem and complete the attached worksheet.

Read pages 245-251 in your Science Book. Complete the fill in boxes on pages 249 and 251.

Submit your final 2-5 page research paper and bibliography here. Have a nice Christmas break!

This is information and a worksheet to help you with your science fair research. The final research paper is due December 18. You will work on your presentation over Christmas break and in the weeks following. You will share your project in class the week of January 18.

This is an optional assignment for extra credit, due Friday 11/20. Late submissions will NOT be accepted. The grade received for this assignment will replace your lowest grade in science class.

Choose a scientist from the list and fill out the worksheet.

Create a Google Slides presentation about any scientific development. Examples are the camera, the car, the computer, etc. Create slides that show how the device or concept has developed through time. I am putting an example here for you to look at. Your presentation does not have to be long or fancy, just a few slides is fine. The objectives of this assignment are:
1. Practice using Google Slides
2. Practice researching on the internet
3. Communicating information to the class.

Fill in the two worksheets attached. Use Kami to edit the PDF.

Read and complete the worksheet. Kids who were in class in school should fill out the worksheet I handed out in class. Remote students should download the worksheet on Kami and submit it or print it and upload a picture of the finished sheete.

After looking at the Google Slides "Scientists", choose one of the pics and write a one page story about the scientist. What is his or her name? Where are they? What are they studying or doing? How did he or she become a scientist? Be creative, there are no wrong stories, because you are making them up! Identify which scientist you are describing by their slide number. You may use Google Docs or paper. If you are remote and you use paper, scan it or take a picture and upload it into this Google Classroom.
