Water bottle

Please have your child bring a water bottle to school each day.

Puzzle Time!

Scholastic Book Fair

Room 3 will attend the Book Fair on Tuesday morning. Parents can put money in an e-wallet or they can send their child with cash. The Book Fair is also open after school until 3:30 on Tuesday and Wednesday and until 7:00 on Thursday, as well as on Friday at 7:45.

Coats needed!

On colder days, kindly send your child with a sweater and a coat. We will be going outside for recess, except when it's raining. Thank you!

Veteran's Day

I'm sending a star home with your child today. If you have any veterans in your family, please record the information on the star and have your child decorate it. If you have no veterans to honor, your child may simply color the star. Please send the completed stars back to school. We will be displaying them on our classroom door for Veteran's Day, November 11th.

Healthy snacks

Kindly send your child with a healthy snack each day; something low in sugar is best. Please remember we are a nut-free school. Thank you for your cooperation!

Upcoming testing

The end of Trimester 1 is fast approaching. Your child will be tested on the days of the week, counting, the sign of the cross, and the Our Father, in addition to sight words, letter recognition, and letter sounds. Please practice at home to help your child gain confidence in these skills.

Here are the sight words we've learned so far: I, am, the, little, to, a, is, have, my, we, like, and, can.

Shorts policy

The cut-off for wearing shorts has passed. The only exception is on days when the temperature is 80 degrees or higher. Thank you for your cooperation!

Out of Uniform on March 1st

We sold 77 tickets for UPP and earned an Out of Uniform Day on Wednesday, March 1st! Way to go, Room 3!!

Conferences

Dear Parents,

I have been excused from teacher meetings on Tuesday, 3/21 & 3/28, in order to hold conferences from 2:15 - 3:15. If you would like to meet with me to discuss your child's progress, kindly send me an email and we will find a time that works. Thank you!

Curriculum Update

We're working on color words for the next two weeks. We also started Chapter 11 in Math: Identify 2D shapes.

School Celebration on 3/30

Our School Celebration is on Thursday, March 30th, from 6:00-7:30 PM. While I won't be in attendance, I will have student work and projects displayed inside and outside of our room. Our classroom will be open for you to visit and see your child's creations.

Mrs. Hruda's bio

Hello! I’m Mrs. Hruda. I’ve been the Resource teacher at QAS for the past three years. I’m excited to return to the classroom and thrilled to be teaching kindergarten! I earned my Master’s degree in Elementary Education from DePaul University and soon after, added an LBS-1 endorsement. I have over 18 years of experience teaching in a variety of settings: as a Title 1 teacher, special education teacher, and classroom teacher in 1^st, 3^rd, and 5^th grades. My husband and I have been married for over 16 happy years. We have two rescued English bulldogs, named Ivy and Judi, who love playing and snuggling, having lupper, and snoring on the couch. In my free time I enjoy baking anything chocolate, singing in my car, and playing the piano.
