Room 3 News ~ September 13, 2019

It’s hard to believe that Summer is coming to an end and we are welcoming the season of Autumn very soon. We will be discussing Fall Changes in class next week and welcome the new season!

Gym Class will be on Monday & Wednesday next week!!

Here’s a look at what we did this week:

Language Arts: This week our story was “Fix-It Duck” by Jez Alborough. We learned about how we can help our friends and about Setting (where the story takes place). We reviewed our two sight words: I & am. We read our little story books (don’t forget to read each story at least 3 times) and did sight word activities. We also have been practicing handwriting skills (forming letters the correct way, holding our pencils the correct way). Next week we will learn two new sight words!

Math: We worked on writing our numbers the kindergarten way – 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5. We practiced counting objects and doing one-t0-one correspondence. We reviewed more than and less than.

Independent Center: This week we learned about America and American symbols in honor of Patriot’s Day (September 11th). We created a book about American symbols and made the Statue of Liberty.

Religion: We learned that God Created everything and everything God created is good!

We had a great first Special Lunch Day and School Spirit Day!

Reminder: When children are wearing their regular school uniforms, gym shoes should not be worn! Also, parents of girls – please have your daughter wear shorts underneath her skirt (we sometimes forget we have a skirt on while playing & resting).

Our first Kindergarten Field Trip to Kroll’s Farm will be on September 30th. Permission slips were sent home in this week’s Red Folder. If you have not already done so, please return your child’s permission slip and payment by September 18th.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered to chaperone for our Field Trip in October! You will be notified in your child’s folder on Thursday, September 19th if you have been chosen. If you do not get a note, you were not chosen this time! We have 2 more field trips this year, so please volunteer for those! I will not take the same chaperones on each field trip unless we have a shortage of volunteers!

Enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend! :)

Kindergarten News ~ August 30, 2019

Mrs. Fritz & Mrs. Marino

It’s hard to believe that our very first week of Kindergarten is over! The children all did a terrific job adjusting to the classroom and new routines. I think we have a fabulous bunch this year!

This week we became used to the classroom, the Keene Building, our classroom rules and routines and we got to know one another. We enjoyed making new friends, sharing special things about one another and we were able to have some outside recess as well.

Please note that snacks should be in a separate, labeled bag or container from their lunch so as not to cause confusion – many children begin to eat their lunch at snack time if it is not separated! Don’t forget to send a drink with snack as well. Snacks should be something small and healthy to hold us over until lunchtime!

Gym Class will be held on Friday next week. Please send your child to school in their Gym uniforms on Friday! The rest of the week, your child should be in their regular school uniform unless Mrs. Carlson chooses to have the students in Gym uniforms all week due to the weather (I will message you on Remind if that is the case).

If the weather is still warm next week, please send your child to school with an extra water bottle. Please let your child know if you have ordered them hot lunch for the day and we will make sure they get it at lunch time! Also, if your child will be going to Extended Care after school, please either place a note in their folder or send me a quick message to let me know!

Finally, there will not be school on Monday, September 2nd due to the Labor Day holiday!!

We had a great first week! See you on Monday!! :)
