Due:

Week of 4 May 2020

Here are the assignments for the week.  No Red Ink is not on Google Classroom, please log in to the site to complete.

M, W, F- "TKAM"- read and highlight chapters 17-22.  These chapters focus on the trial.  Answer the trial evidence chart in google classroom.  I also have it attached to this page.  It is due on Friday.  Since you have a lot of chapters to read, you have one assignment (two pages) to complete.

T,Th- complete No Red Ink Assignments - Identifying Active Voice Verbs, Identifying Passive Voice Verbs.  These are due on Friday, but you are encouraged to complete them before Friday.  If you have any missing assignments (check power school- if there is a 5 and M, you did not complete it and still can), please complete them asap.  Quick write will be assigned on Tuesday. Make sure you are writing a minimum of 3/4 of a page in length.  Double space, times New Roman, size 12 font.

AoW- you will be directed to send your AoW to another classmate.  Please read the AoW and write a BHH on their AoW.  This is the last AoW of the year.  The assignments are not all turned in yet, so those who turned the assignments on time, will get their AoW first.  It is due on May 20.

Please check google classroom and your grades daily.  As we are winding down the last three weeks of school for grade 8, you need to make sure your assignments are turned in so you don't get an I on your report card.  I will also hold a google meets check in on Thursday.  Details forthcoming.  Not mandatory, but if you have questions about assignments or want to discuss "TKAM" this will be your opportunity.

Thank you!

Due:

No Red Ink, AoW

I posted three new grammar assignments on No Red Ink.  Please work on them today.  Also, check your No Red Ink for missing assignments.  You can still complete them for a grade.

AoW assignment:  remember this from last year?  You are to create your own AoW.  Choose any topic that interests you.  You have to research your topic and need a minimum of two different resources. Add the resources to your article and cite the sources at the end of the article.  This is due on April 30.  On May 4, I will ask you to give your article to a student and this will become their AoW assignment for the week of 4 May. Check google classroom for the assignment.

Due:

Assignment

Wednesday's ELA work:  please read and highlight chapter 13 in "TKAM."  You get a break from turning in any type of written assignment for this chapter.  You will be using the information in chapter 13 for a future assignment so make sure you do read and highlight.

You are required to read one more "AR" book of your choice for this trimester.  I don't want you to purchase a book so choose an interesting read from your personal book shelf or go back and reread one of your favorite books.  It doesn't have to be an AR book as you will not be taking a test on the book but will have a different outcome to show comprehension.  When you have a title, please email me so I can add it to power school.

Thanks for emailing me to let know how you are doing with your learning.  It is great to hear that you are doing well and keeping up with your learning.

Assignments due Friday:  AoW, google slide presentation for chapter 8, chapter 9 questions, chapter 10 assignment.
You can turn in assignments earlier than Friday.  Plan your time accordingly.  Chapter 8 is google slide presentation and can be done with one other student in grade 8.  So, this is how you should plan your week:

Wednesday- read AoW and complete assignment, work on slides
Thursday- read, highlight chapter 10, answer questions, work on slides

Two grammar lessons on No Red Ink and quick write are due Thursday.  Find time on M, T, W, or Th morning to complete.

Please read my comments on your assignments.  I should not be seeing spelling or grammar errors.  I will start to grade harder when I see errors, especially ones that are underlined in blue or red for you!  I will not check spelling or grammar errors in quick writes.

Please check the blog daily.  I might add in a zoom meeting on Friday just to touch base.  I will let you know on Thursday if this is a go.

Thanks for your hard work and effort.  Hang in there and stay positive.

Due:

Assignment

Thanks to everyone for keeping up with the online learning.  A few reminders:
1.  You are to read the novel, not the graphic novel, Spark Notes, or any other online novel that is abridged.  You are really doing a disservice to yourself and the novel; it is one of the greatest ever books written.  Citations must come from the novel.
2.  Check google classroom and your email daily.  If you are making errors with the assignment, I want you to make changes and will let you know what to change.  I will give you a day or two to make changes.  If no changes are made, I will grade it what was turned in.  I attached how to cite quotations to my blog.  Use that sheet and follow the rules.
3.  No annotations are needed at this time; the work on google classroom can be viewed as a type of annotation.  Highlight important information.  This will definitely help with the final exam.
4.  If you are ill, please email me so I don't mark assignments as late.

Thanks for keeping your learning going!  Remember to read your AR books.  Two are required for this trimester.

Due:

Assignment
